Now, Alabama boasts three nominees in USA Today's quest to discover the South’s top small town.
Best Small Towns in the South, Alabama's Best Small Towns
USA Today has listed “20 small towns — each with a population of less than 25,000 — that have been nominated by an expert panel.”
According to USA Today, You can cast your vote for the best small town in the South. Polling ends on Monday, March 31, at noon ET, and the winners will be revealed on Wednesday, April 9.
Alabama Towns Up for Best Small Town in the South
Eufaula, Alabama
“Eufaula, Alabama, is celebrated for its exceptional bass fishing and mix of outdoor recreation and historic charm. Visitors can explore the scenic Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge and tour impeccably preserved mansions, including Shorter Mansion and Fendall Hall,” said USA Today. “For those who enjoy fun on the water, Lake Eufaula provides ample opportunities for boating, fishing, and relaxation.”
Fairhope, Alabama
“Founded in 1894, Fairhope has grown into an artistic magnet with flower-lined streets, cultural events, and small-town charm. A coastal city overlooking Mobile Bay, this spot's walkable downtown is filled with boutiques, galleries, and restaurants in historic buildings,” said USA Today. “The Municipal Pier in South Beach is a must-see, featuring sunset views, a rose garden, and walking trails. As a springtime bonus each March, the Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival brings plentiful artists, turning downtown into an outdoor gallery.”
Orange Beach, Alabama
USA Today said, “This Gulf Coast town is known for photo-worthy white-sand beaches and excellent fishing opportunities. Local favorite activities include water sports like jet skiing, kayaking, diving, and boating, visiting the Orange Beach History Museum, and dining on fresh seafood. The town also hosts cultural events like the annual Orange Beach Festival of Art, attracting visitors from near and far.”
